BINGHAMTON, NY – Highlighted by a towering go-ahead three run home run from Carlos Cortes in the eighth, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, trailing 6-0 entering the bottom the seventh, came all the way back for a dramatic 7-6 win against the Reading Fightin' Phils (29-40) on Sunday afternoon. Binghamton took four out of six games in the series to close out the first half of the season.

Walks from Brandon McIlwain and Brett Baty in the eighth set up Ronny Mauricio's RBI single, cutting the margin to 6-4. It was Mauricio's team-leading 47th RBI of the season. Cortes then came up with Baty and Mauricio on-base and the blast to right field over the batting tunnel put the Ponies in the driver's seat. Cortes finished the afternoon 2-4 with four RBI.

The Fightin's scored four runs off Ponies starter Jose Butto in the second punctuated by a two-run double from Wendell Rijo. Reading tacked on two more in the seventh as Aldrem Corredor laced a two-run double.

Butto pitched five innings giving up seven hits and four runs while walking two in the no-decision. Josh Hejka (3-1) got the win pitching a scoreless eighth giving up a hit and striking out two. Jordan Yamamoto registered his first save as well, closing out the ninth.

The Rumble Ponies will begin a six-game series at Hartford on Tuesday night to begin the second half. Max Scherzer will make his second rehab start with Binghamton taking the mound against the Yard Goats on Tuesday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
