Game Recap: Ponies Fall at Home to Fisher Cats on Friday Night

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (20-34) suffered a 4-0 loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (26-28) on the first day of Play Ball Weekend and Players Takeover Weekend at Mirabito Stadium. The Ponies registered just two hits on the night.

The game remained scoreless until John Aiello's RBI single off Ponies starter Jesus Vargas (0-3) drove in Cam Eden giving the Fisher Cats a 1-0 lead in the fifth. Aiello and Eden then became the duo of the night as Aiello knocked in Eden with another single in the seventh and a double in the ninth.

Aiello finished 3-5 with three RBI and a run scored in the ninth on a Josh Hejka balk and Eden went 1-2 with a single, two walks and three runs scored.

Vargas pitched five innings giving up five hits and a run while walking one and striking out four. Nick Fraze (2-4) got the win for New Hampshire pitching three scoreless innings of relief giving up a hit and striking out four.

The Ponies will continue their 12-game homestand against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Saturday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM with pregame coverage beginning at 6:20 PM on NewsRadio 1290 WNBF and 92.1 FM.

POSTGAME NOTES: Alvarez extended his hit streak to 10 games with a ground rule double in the first and caught a runner stealing at second base.
