The Dave Liddell game, Matt Franco's HR sparks comeback against Pedro, and the Mets sweep the Cards in 2012.
1 Year ago today: Padres 4 Mets 3 (boxscore) Francisco Lindor SS 1 for 3, 2 runs scored, 1 walk, 1 K; James McCann C 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBIs, 1 run scored, 2 Ks; Billy McKinney RF 1 for 3, triple, 1 walk, 1 K; Taijuan Walker (L,4-2) 5 innings, 4 runs - 3 earned, 7 hits, 1 HR, 4 walks, 2 Ks;
SNY.TV: Mets takeaways from Thursday's 4-3 loss to Padres, including Taijuan Walker's shaky command. “After Taijuan Walker and Yu Darvish traded a pair of scoreless innings, the Padres struck first on a Fernando Tatis Jr. two-run homer in the bottom of the third. Tatis skied a ball to center field, and Mason Williams looked like he had a play, but the ball went in and out of his glove and bounced over the wall for a home run, giving San Diego a 2-0 lead.”

National Pastime.com: In a pregame ceremony at Citi Field, John Franco becomes the 26th member of the Mets Hall of Fame. The former southpaw reliever, who also played for Cincinnati and Houston, leads all lefties in all-time saves with 424, which includes 276 for the Mets, a franchise record.
Baseball Reference: The Mets complete a three-game sweep of the Cardinals with a 6 - 1 win to reach a virtual tie for first place in the NL East. Jon Niese strikes out a career-high 10 batters in 6 innings before leaving because of an accelerated heart beat. Kirk Nieuwenhuis hits a homer and drives in 3 runs. The Cards lost the first two games of the series by shutout, including Johan Santana's no-hitter on June 1st, and finally end their 26-inning scoring drought in the 8th, on an RBI single by Adron Chambers.

NY Post: Wilmer Flores’ big homer and bullpen’s guts fuel Mets. "Wilmer Flores — who played again in place of the benched Jose Reyes — Jay Bruce and Neil Walker each homered off Tyler Glasnow, helping to make a winner out of Robert Gsellman (4-3, 5.53 ERA) in his second-to-last start before going to the bullpen. Gsellman turned in his third consecutive solid start after he was skipped in the rotation, pitching 5 ¹/₃ innings of two-run ball to pick up his second straight victory. But it was the bullpen that did the heavy lifting, recording 11 outs."
