Needed ulnar nerve transposition surgery in 2016 and came back during his 2017 season at Missouri with higher strikeout numbers and a 100 mph fastball.

Drafted by the Nationals in the 15th round of the 2017 draft but decided to return to Missouri for one more season, posting a higher strikeout rate and the best WHIP of his career as he struck out 137 batters in 124 innings pitched.

Drafted by the Mets in the ninth round of the 2018 draft but needed four different surgeries:

Maybe all the surgeries and missed time have made Bryce an under the radar prospect.  But when you throw as high as 102MPH  with a biting slider, you are gonna get noticed.  After K-ing 24 in 17 innings in Binghamton, Bryce K'd 48 in 30 innings at Syracuse.

That prompted the Mets to promote Bryce to the Big Club when Trevor May went on the IL.  It has been a long journey for Bryce.  He could be a key piece for the Mets bullpen the rest of the year.
