Needed Tommy John surgery in high school and decided to attend the University of Missouri instead of signing with the White Sox, who drafted him in the 14th round of the 2014 amateur entry draft
Hit as high as 98 mph during his first few years at Missouri
Needed ulnar nerve transposition surgery in 2016 and came back during his 2017 season at Missouri with higher strikeout numbers and a 100 mph fastball.
Drafted by the Nationals in the 15th round of the 2017 draft but decided to return to Missouri for one more season, posting a higher strikeout rate and the best WHIP of his career as he struck out 137 batters in 124 innings pitched.
Drafted by the Mets in the ninth round of the 2018 draft but needed four different surgeries:
- Arm surgery, shoulder surgery, back surgery, and a knee surgery within two years
- 1,095 days of rehab between 2018 and playing for a professional team in 2021
Topped out at 102 mph in 2021.

Maybe all the surgeries and missed time have made Bryce an under the radar prospect. But when you throw as high as 102MPH with a biting slider, you are gonna get noticed. After K-ing 24 in 17 innings in Binghamton, Bryce K'd 48 in 30 innings at Syracuse.
