Tim Healey Newsday: Mets' Francisco Lindor named MLBPA's 'Man of the Year'. "The MLB Players Association named him the Marvin Miller Man of the Year, awarded after each season to the major-leaguer 'whose leadership most inspires others to higher levels of achievement,' the union announced...Voted on by Lindor’s peers across baseball, who choose from the 38 players on the executive board, the honor mostly is about a player’s contributions to the union (with charity/community work also considered). "

Mike Puma NY Post Sports+ had a great interview with Mark Canha.  The biggest takeaways: "...I don’t want to play anywhere else. If I could finish my career with the Mets, it would be ideal because I love it so much...[on Buck] the things he thinks about on a regular basis and shares with you when you’re in the dugout or preparing for the game, it feels new, which is kind of crazy to say...I think Bassitt will be back. I’m not sure, but I think he really likes New York. And I think he likes the team. I think he likes the guys a lot...Jake told me he wants to come back, too, and he really likes it here, too. I think Jake and Max [Scherzer] and Bassitt have a really good friendship they have developed over this year and good professional relationship, too"

MiLB.com released their list of 2022 Mets Organizational All-Stars and it may be one of the most packed lists in a long time: Catcher: Francisco Álvarez; First base: Mark Vientos; Second base: Wyatt Young; Third base: Brett Baty; Shortstop: Ronny Mauricio; Outfield: Alex Ramirez; Jake Mangum; Omar De Los Santos;  Right-handed starting pitcher: Dominic Hamel; Left-handed starting pitcher: Javier Atencio; Reliever: Grant Hartwig;

Danny Abriano SNY.TV: 5 questions for Mets' Billy Eppler to answer at GM Meetings. Are the Mets likely to exceed the top luxury tax threshold? How might the timing of Jacob deGrom's decision impact the Mets' offseason plans? Will there be an emphasis on adding more punch to the offense? Which prospects are ready to take on big roles in 2023?  Are the Mets open to trading top prospects if it means landing a difference-maker?

Newsday: The making of the 'Say Hey, Willie Mays' documentary.  Neil Best talks to Nelson George about the new HBO documentary that premieres on Tuesday.  “People think of the ’60s and they think about [Muhammad] Ali, but before Ali’s emergence, Willie Mays is probably the nation’s number one athlete,” Nelson said.

Box Score - Peoria Javelinas 14 Mesa Solar Sox 7: Kevin Kendall 2B 0 for 5, 1 RBI, 1 walk, 1K; Luke Ritter 1B 0 for 1, 2 bases loaded walks, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored, 1 K; Mike Vasil 1 inning, no runs, no hits, 2 Ks;

Before the Game, Josh Walker and Mike Vasil. were both named to the Arizona Fall league All-Star Game.  Binghamton Rumble Ponies Manager Reid Brignac will manage the NL team.  JT Ginn and Kumar Rocker made the team for the American League.  The game will be tomorrow afternoon at 4 eastern.

About Mike Vasil the AFL's press release noted: "Having somewhat revamped himself upon joining the Mets organization, the 22-year-old has taken his new-look pitch arsenal and adroitly deployed it over the past month. The 6-foot-5 righty compiled 10.7 K/9 and a 3.53 ERA across 18 appearances between Single-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn this year."

About Josh Walker: "A conversion to relief this past season has enabled the 6-foot-6 southpaw to focus on his fastball/slider combo and stack up strikeouts. After whiffing 38 batters in 22 innings – and 47.5% of right-handed batters – across three levels in the regular season, the 37th-round selection from the 2017 Draft has put himself on the Mets’ radar."
