Mets Games Played On This Date: April 10

The Mets have played 41 games on April 10th in their history for a record on 18-23 this includes some interesting extra inning games, a wasted Jake gem, and Tommie Agee’s historic HR in 1969.

1 Year ago today: 2022; Game # 4; Sunday, Apr 10; NYM 2 @ WSN 4; boxscore; WP: Finnegan; LP:;Williams; Save: Rainey; Time: 3:01; DAY; Attendance: 23,158

Francisco Lindor SS 1 for 3, HR, 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 1 walk; Robinson Cano 2B 0 or 4, 2 Ks; Pete Alonso 1B 0 for 4, 1 K; Eduardo Escobar 3B 1 for 4, double; Carlos Carrasco 5.2 innings, 1 run - earned, 2 hits, 1 HR, no walks, 5 Ks; Chasen Shreve 1.1 innings, 1 run - earned, 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 K; Trevor Williams (L, 0-1) 2 hits, 2 unearned runs;

Tim Healey Newsday: "The Nationals won, 4-2, after rallying for three runs in the eighth inning against lefthander Chasen Shreve and righthander Trevor Williams, the last members of the Mets’ Opening Day roster to appear in a game...Nelson Cruz had the go-ahead two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. The Mets suffered their first loss of the season, missing their chance for a four-game sweep."

NY Post: Bullpen, Pete Alonso error cost Mets in loss to Nationals"The Mets first baseman’s throw on a grounder pulled Francisco Lindor off second base and helped extend the inning for the Nationals, allowing them to score the go-ahead runs...Alonso’s underhand throw to the plate on Lucius Fox’s safety squeeze earlier in the inning. Dee Strange-Gordon beat that throw for the tying run."

Brian Joura Mets360: "Carrasco was terrific in the game. While he allowed the first-inning run, he finished by retiring the last 15 batters he faced. He had a good fastball but ended up throwing twice as many off-speed pitches, which allowed him to keep batters off balance all game long."

Metstradamus: "The good news is that despite the lack of runs, the Mets are taking much better at-bats so far this season than they did last season. Last season’s constant was that the team was swinging at balls and watching hittable strikes go by. It isn’t like that this time around."

10 Years ago today: 2013; Game #9; Wednesday, Apr 10, NYM 3 @ PHI 7; boxscore;  WP: Kendrick; LP: Hefner; Time: 02:55; NIGHT; Attendance: 38,715.

NY Post: Hefner latest Mets starter to fall flat in loss to Phillies. "Hefner (0-2) surrendered five runs in the first inning last night, allowing Kyle Kendrick and the Phillies plenty of room for error. Lucas Duda hit two home runs and John Buck homered for the third straight day to account for the Mets’ runs."

20 Years ago today: Year: 2003; Game #9; Thursday,  Apr 10, NYM 3 @  FLA 4;   boxscore;  WP: Spooneybarger; LP:   Benitez; Time: 03:08; NIGHT; Attendance: 10,267.

NY Post: No relief for Armnado; Fish flip Mets with two in 9th. "[Juan] Pierre...smoked a game-winning two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the ninth to hand the Mets a devastating 4-3 loss...Benitez (L,0-2) entered a 3-1 game for David Weathers with a runner on third and one out in the eighth and allowed an RBI groundout before his ninth-inning blowup...Ty Wigginton’s solo homer in the second and Timo Perez’s fourth-inning RBI single buoyed starter Tom Glavine, who improved for his third straight start. The staff ace tenaciously held the Marlins scoreless on five hits and two walks, striking out three."

30 Years ago today: Year: 1993; Game #4; Saturday, Apr 10, NYM 3 HOU 6; boxscore;  WP: Drabek; LP: Gooden; Time: 02:36; DAY, Attendance: 21,419.

Here is the complete list of Mets games on April 10th:

Year: 2022; Game # 4; Sunday, Apr 10; NYM 2 @ WSN 4; boxscore; WP: Finnegan; LP:;Williams; Save: Rainey; Time: 3:01; DAY; Attendance: 23,158

Year: 2021; Game #5; Saturday,  Apr 10; NYM 0 Vs. Marlins 3;  box Score; WP: Rogers; LP: deGrom; S: Garcia; Time: 02:36; NIGHT; Attendance: 8,419.

Brandon Nimmo CF 1 for 3, walk and a K; Francisco Lindor SS 0 for 3 with a K; Michael Conforto RF 0 for 4, 3 Ks; Pete Alonso 1B 0 for 4, 3 Ks; Dominic Smith LF 1 for 3, 2 Ks; Jacob deGrom (L, 0-1) 8 innings, 5 hits, 1 run (HR), 14 Ks, no walks; Edwin Diaz 2/3 inning, 3 hits, 2 runs (both earned), 1 walk; Jeurys Familia 1/3 inning, no hits, no runs, 1 K.

SNY.TV: "The Mets squandered an opportunity right away after they opened the game with runners on 1st and 3rd with nobody out but did not score. Brandon Nimmo doubled and Francisco Lindor reached on an error, but after Lindor was caught stealing, Michael Conforto and Pete Alonso both struck out to end the inning."

Mets.com: For an encore on Saturday, deGrom matched his career high with 14 strikeouts at Citi Field, limiting the Marlins to one run in eight innings. It wasn’t enough. The Mets recorded just three hits all afternoon in a 3-0 loss to the Marlins, sticking deGrom with an 0-1 record despite his 0.64 ERA through two starts.

Newsday: “Among the creatively cruel, mind-bending ways for Jacob deGrom to lose a game — and we all know there have been dozens of these during his tortured Mets career — Saturday’s defeat was especially aggravating…That’s because the Marlins’ Jazz Chisholm Jr., a very talented rookie playing in his 28th game, somehow caught up to an 0-and-2 fastball traveling at 100.4 mph. It wasn’t even a strike.”
