Game Recap: St. Lucie Mets Bounce Back with 8-3 Win Over Hammerheads


Tilien, Guerrera hit clutch two-run doubles 

JUPITER, Fla. (June 9, 2022) – The St. Lucie Mets bounced back with an 8-3 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium on Thursday night. (Box Score)

Key two-run hits propelled the Mets to the victory. Junior Tilien ripped two-run double in the second inning off Jupiter starter Edgar Sanchez (4-2) to give the Mets a 2-0 lead. 

With the Mets up 2-1 in the sixth inning, Justin Guerrera smashed a two-out, two-run double with the bases loaded to extend the lead to 4-1. Jose Rivera added a RBI single to make it 5-1, then Alex Ramirez yanked a two-run single to cap the inning and put the Mets up 7-1. 

Stanley Consuegra belted a triple in the seventh inning and scored on a hit by William Lugo for the Mets final run of the night. 

Mets starter Saul Gonzalez scattered five hits and gave up one run over three innings. Gonzalez was followed by Raimon Gomez (2-1), who struck out four Hammerheads over two scoreless innings to get the win.

 Daniel Juarez chipped in with two innings of solid relief and Jace Beck closed out the game with a scoreless ninth. 

Alex Ramirez went 2 for 5 with two RBI and a run from the leadoff spot. 

Omar De Los Santos went 0 for 3 but reached twice on a hit-by-pitch and walk. He stole four bases. 

The Mets (36-17) and Hammerheads (27-25) play the fourth game of their series at Roger Dean Stadium on Friday. It's camp day in Jupiter with first pitch scheduled for noon.
