NY Post: "Dominic Smith delivered a walk-off RBI single in the eighth inning, allowing the Mets to escape Game 1 of a doubleheader with a 2-1 victory over the Phillies at Citi Field. Victory arrived after Aaron Nola struck out 10 straight batters to match a record held alone by Tom Seaver for the last 51 years...David Peterson was sharp in the nightcap — allowing just one run over six innings — but the Mets were again flat offensively in a 2-1 loss, also in eight innings. The doubleheader split was the Mets’ third in the last week..."

NY Post: Cubs beat sloppy Mets. "Joe Mather homered and Travis Wood outpitched Johan Santana (L,5-4) leading the Chicago Cubs to a 6-1 victory over the New York Mets on Monday night to snap a four-game skid. Wood (2-3) struck out six and scattered five hits over seven scoreless innings to earn his second straight victory. The Cubs scored four unearned runs in the seventh inning with help from three Mets erorrs, including three-base miscues by third baseman David Wright and right fielder Lucas Duda."

Baseball Reference: The White Sox hold a 4 - 3 lead over the Mets with two outs in the 9th inning, but manage to blow it in the most embarrassing fashion, after Daniel Murphy hits a routine pop-up in front of the mound. 2B Gordon Beckham comes charging in, trips on P Addison Reed's foot and falls to the ground, in the process bowling over 3B Conor Gillaspie, who is positioned under the ball. The ball drops to the ground and rolls away from Reed while David Wright takes advantage of the confusion to score all the way from second base and tie the game. Luckily, the Sox manage to score a run off LaTroy Hawkins in the bottom of the inning to escape with a 5 - 4 win and save a little face.
